My husband and I met in 2001 at the University of Delaware, where I would eventually get a Bachelors in Psychology (He transferred to Bowie State and earned his Bachelors in Political Science from there) and we've been together ever since. He's a Director of Operations for the two Bowie Chick-Fil-A's (so you can bet we'll be keeping our building crew happy with some free lunch drop offs, haha!) and I work from home for a company that sells and installs windows and doors (replacement and new construction), Quality Window & Door, Inc. I also plan to homeschool our daughters once they've reached that age.
We have two girls; Olivia is 2 1/2 years old and her new sister Charlotte is 2 months old. The whole drive behind wanting this house is to finally have a back yard for them to play in. The house we currently rent has a pool that takes up the entire back yard and my poor olivia just wants to run around outdoors all the live long day, which just can't happen with no grass!
Can't wait to move into our new home!
We also have two small dogs (so our first HOA experience will be getting our fence approved!). Seamus is a rat terrier and Audrey is a pug/beagle mix (don't worry, she doesn't do the very annoying beagle howl).
Thanks for the intro! And, it's good to have some more kids moving in. Our kids are 18 (deciding between University of Central Florida and University of Tampa), 12, 11 and 2. The 2-year-old is the only girl. Also, we do Chick-Fil-A at least once a week, and had food trays from there for our house warming. Hats off to you for home schooling. My wife did it for several years. She's still a stay-at-home mom, but is in school right now until May.
ReplyDeletePlease feel free to reach out if you have any questions, and we look forward to meeting you guys soon.
Thanks so much, same here!
DeleteLove the dogs trying to look all big and bad in case any neighborhood pooches happen to catch the blog post!
ReplyDeleteToo funny, tammy!
DeleteWhat a beautiful FAMILY!!
ReplyDeleteIt is a joy and pleasure to meet your new neighbors. We met Sheldon and his family early on and we even visited with their family before we closed on our new home. I would like to do the same.
I am Nadase and my husband is Rick--he owns a glass construction company and I am a student and homemaker until March 18. I will be working as a Interior Design Consultant at Arhaus in Rockville.
If you feel inclined to do so, feel free to join us for my 50th Birthday Party at our home. We have a great line up with live jazz, poetry and dancing.
Welcome to the Neighborhood! btw--I absolutely adore your dogs. We have a mini schnauzer named Harley who would love to have play dates. Poor thing he is so bored! lol
Blog Tip: please turn off the word verification on your blog. It makes bloggers decipher a weird word pattern before we can leave comments. Ughh
We would all love to follow your journey--you can find the instructions on my blog for instructions on how to add followers to your blog. It's a great way to become visible on the blog. ricknadase.blogspot.com
Ok, spread the word....I have turned on the Followers Gadget for the blog. I would love to have input from everyone as we go through the journey.

DeleteThanks for the welcome Nadase! I have turned off the word verification, or at least I think I did.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to getting to know each other. Our dogs would love to play. We need to talk Fairwood into building a dog park!
Exciting news about working as an Interior Design Consultant! We are going to move all of our current furniture to at least fill our home, but I know we hope to start going through rooms in the house and begin updating things.
Awesome! I just joined your site!
DeleteThey really do need to create a doggie park! This means getting involved with the community meetings to make a direct impact on the neighborhood.
BTW-you are the first Milan on the blog from our neighborhood. All others built a Rome.
Oh yeah, I would happily advocate for a dog park in fairwood. I am all about a cup of coffee in the morning while the dogs run wild.
ReplyDeleteToo bad that there is no other Milan bloggers in the neighborhood, would love their input too. I really did like the layout of the Rome too. The big thing for me though, was having the kitchen with the counter right up against the family room. I am the culinary genius in the house so I like to be near the family while I cook.
Hi Justin & Tiffany, me & the hubby are Milan builders in Fairwood over on Dr Beans, they broke ground today! I am working to get a blog up soon so everyone can follow.
DeleteHey! That's awesome! Get your blog up soon so we can follow along. Sounds like you guys are about a month ahead of us. When did you all sign a purchase agreement?
DeleteWelcome! I just found your blog! Feel free to follow ours as well! Looking forward to seeing your progress! We also have two little ones (boys) as well as a dog and a cat. Our motivation was the same, we needed a yard for them to run around in! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elise, found your blog and your home looks great!
